August 2026 Tabernacle Updates

A rampant dragon dominating and seemingly guarding the Tabernacl is
one of the fond memories of the Eisteddfod. Ask visitors to the town and
it is one of the many things they remember about their visit to the town.
Should the dragon stay continue brightening up the town or return to its
lair? Personally I would like to see it remain throughout the summer as it
has made such an impact. Thanks to Rich for the concept and to Rhodri
and Penny Forsyth who helped bring the vision into reality.
It provided another opportunity to remind the town and the visitors that
the Tabernacl is there for everyone. For the choirs who took advantage
of the location and acoustics to rehearse before their big moments on
the Maes and for those who now regularly come to some of the events
that are held each week.
We have been awarded a grant by the Dewi Davies Fund (for which we
are very grateful) to pay for some more improvements to the facilities we
have. It will mean a busy time in the remaining days of August and the
next few months.
From September many more regular adult education classes and events
will be held. This will make it a busy time for the volunteers who turn up
to make sure the doors are open and the rooms are clean both before
and after events. Some of you will already have guessed what is coming
next. We need more volunteers to come forward and help open up,
prepare coffee mornings, keep the weeds at bay, help to clean and tidy
the and other things that will emerge as we get busier. With more coffee
mornings scheduled in the autumn and hour or two would be
appreciated by those who seem to have almost full-time (unpaid) jobs in
looking after things. Drop in if you see the door is open and tell us you
want to help. Grab one of us on the street and say you can devote your
entire life for the next hour or week to helping us return the tabernacl to
what it once was - a thriving centre in the town for all of us to use. You
