As we approach the end of the year, we are happy to say that our first tenant, the
adult education department, will start running courses from February half term.
These will be held in the vestry. Our grateful thanks to Cynnal y Cardi for a grant that
allowed us to purchase sufficient chairs, tables and equipment for courses to start.
We have just heard that our grant application to the Architectural Heritage Fund for a
viability study on the Hwb Aberteifi project has been successful. The sum of £14,000
will enable us to engage with professionals to undertake a feasibility study of the
emerging plans. The study will include community engagement and focus group
meetings as well as discussions with Design Teams and Consultants.
During the Festival of Light, (https://www.smallworld.org.uk/festival-of-light/) , the
front windows of the chapel have been lit up. If you haven’t seen them yet, come
along before the festival ends On January 2 nd as they really brighten up the front of
the chapel and Pendre.
Openreach have informed us that they have no plans to link the chapel to internet
access, so we are examining the Starlink option. We have been granted £800 by the
Welsh government’s Access Broadband Cymru Grant Scheme.
The pigeon issue is taking longer to resolve than we thought. They seem to like the
Tabernacl as much as many of us! Thus, we are running a little later than we hoped
in clearing them out.
We have submitted expressions of interest to CADW for a grant to help defray costs
in refurbishing the chapel and the vestry according to the strictures that apply to any
Grade 2 building. We’ll find out in January if we have been successful.
Finally, may we once again thank all our supporters and volunteers for their efforts.
You know that we couldn’t have got this far without you.
Have a peaceful Christmas and may 2026 bring all you wish for.
