The cottage is largely refurbished now. It has been painted, a few spots of dampness have been sorted and touch wood, we will have a tenant in the new year. There are just a few things to do inside and some repairs to the outside of the building as it faces Pendre but these can be done whilst a tenant moves in as it shouldn't affect them too much. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped with the painting and repairs.
The pigeon problem is still a niggling issue in the Tabernacle itself, but the clean-up has begun.
We had a visit from Ceredigion's Heritage Planning Officer recently and he confirmed that the chapel, the vestry and the cottage are covered by the Grade two listing. The listing will inform the next stage of our plans.
In October, we were successful in gaining a ‘Cynnal y Cardi’ grant which will enable us to prepare the vestry for adult education classes which will be starting early in the new year. The grant is being used to purchase equipment such as interactive screens, laptops, chairs, tables and other materials which will be delivered hopefully by the middle of December.
Work is continuing inside the chapel and vestry to make it watertight. The heating system including the boiler has been checked over and no problems were found, for which we all breathed a sigh of relief!
We knew that we would need to replace some of the panes in the stained-glass windows. A closer inspection of them has shown that, in some cases, the lead around the glass is bowing and will need replacing so that job will be bigger than we had previously thought.
Our grateful thanks to all of you, once again for your support in working to bring back our Tabernacle to becoming a community asset again.
